This course will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the principles and applications of microbial electrosynthesis (MES) for the enhancement of bioenergy production from organic wastes. The course will cover the theoretical and practical aspects of MES, including its role in bioenergy production, the underlying microbial and electrochemical processes, and the design and optimization of MES systems.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the principles and applications of microbial electrosynthesis for bioenergy production from organic wastes
  • Describe the underlying microbial and electrochemical processes involved in MES
  • Identify the key factors affecting MES performance and system design
  • Evaluate the advantages and limitations of MES technology for bioenergy production
  • Develop strategies for optimizing MES systems to enhance bioenergy production from organic wastes
