Lecture: Fundamental theory of magnetic field and generation of magnetomotive force. General knowledge about construction and classifications of electric motors with inventers (including induction, stepper and PMSM motors), encoders (including optical, magnetic and mechanical) and control systems (including rapid prototyping control system) used in servo drives technology. Presentation of basic control algorithms used in servo drive systems with tuning procedures. Overview of examples of industrial, automotive and aerospace application for servo drives and innovative servo systems based on smart material and structures.

 

Laboratory: Introduction to servo drives using Matlab/Simulink environment. Developing and construction of positioning mechanism in LEGO MINDSTORM system with using DC motors. Programming of electric motor control system of forklift lift mechanism using LabView software. Programming of servo drive dedicated for unmanned aerial vehicle with using rapid control prototyping system.
