This course covers the impact of wind on various types of structures, including chimneys, cooling towers, water slides, and even passing vehicles. Both theory, including fluid mechanics, and practical applications, such as numerical analyses and wind tunnel tests, will be presented. As a result of the climate crisis, hurricanes are becoming increasingly powerful. Destructive or catastrophic winds pose a threat to buildings and engineering structures, among other things. Wind is a dominant load on many structures, especially when located in open terrain, on lakes, or in the mountains.
